Weekly Update...

According to the adjusted ultrasound, I will be 24 weeks tomorrow!

I can't help but reiterate the fact that I am just so grateful to be this far along.

My next doctor's appointment is May 4th (I think)... At this appointment I will get the glucose test and I am certain that my doctor will be a little disappointed that I still have not gained any weight...

Lately, I have been craving BBQ and of course sweets. I have also been urinating obscenely frequently during the night...

Also, April's to do list is almost done as well as much of May's.

April
Order Furniture (Done)
Deep Clean Nursery (Done)
Finish Installing Trim (Done)
Touch Up Paint (Done)
Register for Hospital Classes (In Progress)

May
Start Registry (Done)
Find Pediatrician (In Progress)
Complete Pre-Admission Hospital Paperwork (In Progress)

Now... If I could only be this productive on my thesis project I might actually have a chance of graduating in August...

Anyway... Back to baby stuff...

The nursery is coming along swimmingly. I will post pictures soon...
These projects are done mostly because of Tony's hard work. I know that it is early to do all of this, but he had time and I like looking at it because it makes me happy to know that in 16 short weeks a baby may actually be occupying the space.

At 24 weeks along, our baby is over 12 ½ inches long and weighs 1¼ to 1½ pounds. He or She is gaining steadily at a rate of six ounces per week. Much of that weight comes from accumulating baby fat, as well as from growing organs, bones, and muscle. By now, that fabulous face is almost fully formed, complete with eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair.

Nursery News...

Though it is a little early big progress is being made in the nursery... This weekend it is being painted and steam cleaned and we might go get the furniture... Also, I registered @ Babies R Us... I think I may have went overboard, but I am having three showers so I guess I can justify it. I'll post pictures soon...

Happy Easter...

Happy Easter! It is hard to believe that next year the Easter Bunny will be visiting our house to give the little one his or her first basket.

I am now 21 weeks along... Over half way and according to my measurements, I am actually 22 weeks tomorrow! I am just so thrilled that everything is progressing well. I can't stop thinking about what motherhood hold for me. Every thought that runs through my head is baby related! I really need to start focusing on other things (THE THESIS), but that just isn't happening and I am really quite content meandering through my days dreaming about little Charlie or Evelyn.

So here is a late update for week 21...

This will be the last weekly update because the pictures on TheNest only show monthly updates from here on out...
Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

Spring Break...

And the three of us are off tomorrow to enjoy three fine Michigan bed and breakfasts...

Woot!

On another note...

My doctor's appointment went well today... Dr. Hardas said everything looked great on the ultrasound, and the little one is measuring ahead by a week... But she did mentioned that I should be gaining weight...

Never in my life has anyone ever told me to gain weight...

Ever!

She says that my lack of weight gain has not affected the little one, but if I don't gain a couple of pounds by the next appointment, she will have to do another ultrasound...

I will indulge, but not too much because another ultrasound would be nice...

20 Weeks...

Half way there! I never imagined I'd be this blessed to be at this point...
Everyday I am able to be pregnant, is truly amazing...

Your baby is covered in a white substance called vernix caseosa. This substance helps protect your baby’s skin from becoming irritated while submersed in amniotic fluid, and it also aids the baby's passage through the birth canal during labor.

Your baby is beginning to produce meconium, a dark green or black sticky substance that constitutes a baby’s first messy diaper. A few babies pass meconium while in the uterus or during labor. Meconium consists of cell loss, amniotic fluid that has been swallowed, and digestive secretions.
